Hypothesis re: "What Does It All Mean"
Mar 3 2010, 1:43 PM EST
The Cylons won the first Cylon War. Human civilaztion was virtualized a la the Matrix. The Cylons are now running 'monte carlo' simulations (hence the deja vu experience of the Cylons in the last episodes) of the universe in order to end up with a happy ending. Everyone in the BSG series, Cylon and human, were avatars.

From the new "Prisoner": 'Everything is suspicious viewed from the right perspective.' But I hope they aren't going to Matrix us. Do you find this valuable? |

That being said, it sounds like the downsizing of the human race rather than the human race "exploring strange new worlds and boldly go,,,,etc." Do you find this valuable? |

However, if you think about it, the 'image' that we present ourselves to others is nothing but an avatar of our real selves. Similar to how Zoe presented herself as the prototype to conceal herself from her father. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

What I got out of watching the 2hr dvd is that this is the story of the events that led up to the 1st Cylon war. Think about it a moment....Cylons can't reproduce (and Avatar's certainly can't) so both those scenario's don't make sense. Even with Ron and David involved...that's just too wierd even for them. Get out of Science Fiction and into a Character driven venue ....and leave the psychosis behind. Do you find this valuable? |

I missed too many eps of Caprica to be particularly informed on some issues, but a virtual world "ala the Matrix", or "Neuromancer", or "Snowcrash" would be virtually indistinguishable from a real world. That would be t entire point. There may occur glitches as clues s/a experiences of deja vu or that everything tastes like chicken but I find just that small amount of evidence unconvincing and I have not noticed it presented on Caprica so there it appears maybe even less likely. "Very interesting theory, but I'm not totally sold on it at this time. The latter part of your statement I like. It makes perfect sense. We all have "images" of ourselves that we express differently during various stages in our lives. Was Zoe wanting to get out of the avatar at other times other than hiding herself from her father? I was really just trying to bring some coherence to the BSG finale using some of the ideas in the first couple of Caprica episodes.Ultimately, what it all means is dependent upon the writers actually having a grand theory to begin with and not getting boxed in by production constraints :). I can't wait for new episodes though. I also recommend the podcast - the writers/directors/cast members basically talk over the most recent episode as it plays in the backgound. I have not yet found it for Caprica but I remember often quite enjoying podcasts for bsg. Thanx. Good luck finding coherence in bsg's finaly. I hated almost everything from when Tory was killed on. After going along for t ride for four years and getting involved in wanting four years worth of mysteries solved we find that the answer to all of them was that it was all just magic, supernateral magic.
