Comparing this show to BSG
Jul 22 2009, 5:40 PM EDT
Hello. I joined this just now hoping that there will soon be intelligent conversations about all that's going on in this show, I got sick of IMD B and the people just so angry that this wasn't BSG. So I hope there are no comparisons, as RM has said that he WANTS a 'completely different show'. Being a fan of all things BSG I gotta say it's a little hard to let go and trust this show, but I'm willing. So far, I'm enthralled by the pilot and the cast.

IMDb is just a notch above YouTube in terms of civil conversation. They really attract trolls! The Caprica pilot was brilliant and I know we will see an increase in activity here once we get closer to the premiere.I don't know why people are complaining about Caprica at all on the IMDb boards. Most of us are big BSG fans here, too. I thought the pilot had everything that made BSG great -- intelligent science fiction with complex characters. We should be in good hands with Caprica, if you ask me! 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"what are the complaints of bsg fans? bsg wasnt all that good.So far this show has gripped me far more than the "re-imagining" of BSG did. The reason is because to me the new BSG was just a re-hash of the old, as I'm an old-timer. Caprica, however, is completely new to me and gripping. So far 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

When it comes to BSG, I preferred the new version. It was just grittier, darker, and no campyness like the original. Caprica has a nice feel to it. Sure there is less action, but it really delves into the characters. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I just began watching BSG because 'Caprica' had already hooked me. The standard summaries of Galactica had turned me off & I'd been tepid towards SciFi Channel since the cancellation of 'Farscape'. 'Caprica' so far is doing a beautiful job of examining a culture which can't imagine the fuiture which will come from the seeds being sown. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

E5 of Caprica seems to really get the ball rolling, as Tamara begins to realize she is dead, but much alive in the game New Cap City.I loved the ending shot of her walking down the street!! The look of the Game reminds me of Bladerunner . 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

I hope Caprica builds on this excellent episode. Do you find this valuable? |

There really is no comparison between the two; it took me about two years from the time nBSG started airing until I really got into it - and at that I was constantly disappointed by it. As "all this has happened before," i felt Caprica too would be a let down, but when I sat down and watched I was hooked almost immediately. I can safely say that I already enjoy it far more than I ever enjoyed nBSG. One of my biggest complaints about BSG was that it was weird for weirdness sake and things always seemed on the verge of making sense but never quite getting there. Of course Caprica has that mysterious element to it, but it fits with the subject matter where on BSG it dragged the show down and eventually sunk it.

I've been a fan of BSG sense I first found out about it, now I'll admit I watched nBSG first, but about halfway through I went back and watched the majority of the old show as well. I love em both. Caprica takes the next step in the direction nBSG started of a character driven scifi story. So far my only complaint with Caprica is that there only appear to be Two cultures, Caprican and Tauron. Out of all twelve colonies apparently Caprica and Tauron are the only ones that are interesting enough for us to care. Do you find this valuable? |

I think Caprica is every bit as good as BSG. It's been very interesting to see where the Cylon philosphy and religion came from. Like BSG, they are focusing on the characters which is making for a good show.
