Will we get to see the Cylon War?
Apr 3 2009, 6:43 PM EDT
It looks like there were only 3 or 4 years between the creation of the Cylons and their rebellion against humanity. Do you think Caprica will (or should) stick to the story of their initial development, or will the show eventually cover the Cylon War itself (which presumably is what prompts the Colonies to start building battlestars...)?

I thought I read somewhere that they would get to it on the show, but I hope they don't skip to it too soon! If they planned the seasons to represent one year each, it would pan out perfectly for a 4-5 year run (similar to BSG). I think that's just about the perfect length for a series. Let's hope it hangs in there that long, as I anticipate it to be as good as BSG, if not better! 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I hope so. But I don't relish seeing my home Colony of Canceron's over population issues resolved by the Cylons.

O.K., Now that the show has been canceled. Let's hope we can pull together and change the executives mind. Has anyone else sent apples out there?

Well....I have seen the unaired eps....up here in Canada.I won't leak details, but ....these were the best eps of the 1st season. Ep 17 was just on the other night and it was edge of the seat drama and action. I'm looking forward to ep 18 next week and maybe some closure to the series. Do you find this valuable? |

Save Caprica! I have an idea. I am currently boycotting ALL merchandise advertised on NBC and CBS until Caprica is back. Any product I see on NBC or CBS is on my ”DO NOT BUY! list”. If the execs care only for money, how would they feel if no one advertises on their network because of a boycott. Pass this along and give it a good think over. (><)

Boycotting is not going to accomplish anything JDevone. The show needs a following to be air time to generate revenue. Retail dollars are chump change to studios and legit business op tax write off. Caprica simply needs more of a following to generate revenue to cover the expenses and make some profit. I'm not trying to come across as condescending; I'm simply tabling the objectivity of the matter. As for seeing the show, sniff around...the show is not difficult at all to see anywhere in the US if you find resourceful sources. You might try having someone in Canada burn you a copy on their DVD/R and mailing it to you. Be sure to share! Happy Hunting. Do you find this valuable? |

If sales of S1 go well.....they might end up doing more Caprica.I could see them doing a movie or mini series....kinda like on Stargate SG1. We already know there is another BSG related show in the works...and I think it will be geared to more action...something that was lacking in Caprica and that probably contributed to its cancellation. I did like how Caprica was cerebral and complicated, but Really....I wanted more of the Cylons !! BTW..... I am sure there are sites around to access the last few eps.....they are the best of the season IMO !! Do you find this valuable? |

Just finished watching the 5 episode marathon for the end of Caprica and i must say people didn't give the show time to mature just think of other shows that failed in the first season and continued to grow it's fan base(Star Trek Next Generation) TV execs give up on shows way to soon if they had let Caprice finish it's season they would have gotten more fans because those last episodes were intellectual and action filled.

I couldn't agree with you more. Caprica was one of the most intelligently written and well performed series in recent TV history. The story lines were rich and detailed and wonderfully imaginative. Such a shame that a show of this caliber is cancelled after only 18 episodes, when shows with far less to offer seem to go on for a hundred or more episodes. I will miss Caprica!

The unfortunate thing is... the networks use Neilson to guage the success of the show....this is based on a handful of people picked to represent millions.Seems to me...they picked the ones that were more inclined to watch "dumbed down" shows, rather than something that promotes actual thinking and involvement in a show. Seems smart shows are in the minority...and get killed off fast. Its unfortunate that the popularity of a show hangs on the whim of so few. I still feel the system needs to be modernized and upgraded, so as to paint a more accurate picture of how the public is watching....this makes it fair for all...the networks, advertisers, and fans Do you find this valuable? |

You would think that with virtually everyone connected via the internet, that it would be easy to take a far larger sampling than the 1100 or so families that Neilson uses to gauge who's watching what. But apparently the science behind the statistical sampling that Neilson uses is sound, and the sampling they use gives a surprisingly accurate picture of what we're all watching.I think the problem lies with the viewing public. The vast majority of TV watchers don't seem to want the kind of deep and thought provoking entertainment that shows like Caprica offer. They would, it appears, prefer the lighter and more surface level entertainment of shows like NCIS and Law and Order. I'm not knocking either of those shows, incidentally. I have seen several episodes of both, and found them entertaining enough. But to me those shows are like a snack, while shows like Caprica are a gourmet, five course dinner. Silly reality shows IMO have run their course.... but because they are cheap to make, the networks shove them down our throats.....and they wonder why the revenues are shrinking.....they need to wake up and deliver top notch stuff....like what HBO does....but with less nudity. AMC got it right with The Walking Dead and also Breaking Bad...both written, acted and delivered with class. the other networks should be taking notes !! 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Very true. And I agree that AMC got it right as well. Breaking Bad is a top notch show that started with a very small viewership. I haven't had a chance to get into The Walking Dead yet, but I have all the episodes TiVo'd. Don't forget about Mad Men, another quality production from AMC.

I think the most likely outcome is it taking the same path as FireFly. I don't think the idiots at the network will admit their mistake but I do see a movie coming out of this. I also think the new show SKINS will get canceled, and that is a show that is smart well written and well acted when compared to its competition GLEE. The Patents Television Council has their knickers in a twist about it. Compared to the original UK version of SKINS, the 'Americanized' version is tame.
