THE TWELVE COLONIES OF MAN

Caprica

CAPRICA

Caprica is the cultural and political center of the Colonies, a wealthy world with shining metropolitan centers and advanced technology. Caprica is the seat of Colonial government and home to much of the Colonial "upper class."

Caprica's professional pyramid team is the "Buccaneers" -- also known as the "Sea Bucks."

Noted Capricans
:
Daniel Graystone, Amanda Graystone, Zoe Graystone, William Adama, Lee Adama, Kara Thrace, Laura Roslin

Tauron

TAURON

Tauron is a wealthy, powerful, and somewhat roguish Colony, known for its defiance of Colonial law, which has led to at least one bloody Taruon Uprising. Tauron is controlled by a notorious and powerful planetary mafia (notable for their tattoo-adorned bodies).

Tauron culture emphasizes strong family ties, a hierarchy of respect for the powerful, a "blood for blood" system of personal honor, all with undercurrents of violence, fear, coercion, and revenge.

Even though Tauron is famous for its expansive pastures, there are actually no flowers growing anywhere on the planet.

Taruons are widely distrusted, even despised, on other Colonies.

Noted
Taurons: Joseph Adama, Sam Adama, Helena Cain

Sagittaron

SAGITTARON

Sagittaron is culturally isolated from the other Colonies; its people distrust technology and embrace folk medicine.

The people of Sagittaron believe themselves to be oppressed by the other, more powerful colonies -- Tom Zarek emerged as a controversial revolutionary leader (and to many, a terrorist) who fought for freedom on Sagittaron.

Noted Sagittarons: Tom Zarek, Anastasia Dualla

Aerilon

AERILON

Aerilon is an agriculturally rich world with few population centers, and is one of the less affluent Colonies.

The vast majority of Aerilon's citizens are farmers, making the planet known as "The Breadbasket of the Colonies."

Noted Aerilons

Gemenon

GEMENON

Gemenon is a poorer colony with strong leanings towards religious fundamentalism and social conservatism.

The Gemonese believe in the literal interpretation of Scripture, and the absolute truth of ancient prophesies.

Zoe, Ben, and Lacy plan to leave Caprica for Gemenon, where they believe they will have a chance for living a life of religious freedom.

The language spoken on Gemenon is known as Gemonese.
